Career Studies Certificate

Purpose: The purpose of this curriculum is to serve students pursuing a Career Studies Certificate that teaches basics of agricultural production, highlighting important agricultural products to the economy. Courses emphasize hands-on experiences with animals and plants, the science behind production and business practices, agricultural policy, and strengthens workplace skills.
Program Objectives: An Agriculture Career Studies Certificate prepares graduates for entry-level jobs or internships in agriculture, including animal and plant production jobs with a company or on their own.
Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to credit-level coursework established by the college.
Placement Requirements: Students who do not demonstrate readiness for college-level English will be required to select appropriate EDE 10 or ENG 111 /EDE 11* coursework in consultation with an advisor.
Students who do not demonstrate readiness for college-level math will be required to select appropriate MDE coursework in consultation with an advisor.
Program Notes: All classes apply to and graduates may continue their work towards the Science: Agriculture Major, A.S. degree. This Career Studies Certificate can be combined with one of the Career Studies Certificates offered in Mechatronics to obtain an Associate of Applied Science degree in Agricultural Technology.
