Purpose: This curriculum is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills needed to obtain an entry-level plumber job position.
Program Objectives: Employment opportunities include plumber, entry level positions in plumbing, Journeyman plumber, pipefitter, service plumber, sprinkler apprentice, combination pipe welder, pipefitter apprentice, plumbing helper, plumbing mechanic, plumbing technician, building maintenance positions, and apprentice positions in the plumbing field.
This certificate meets the 240 clock hours of formal training required to take the Journeyman Plumber Exam. In addition to successful completion of the Journeyman Exam, four years of practical experience are required to become a Licensed Journeyman.
Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to credit-level coursework established by the college.
Placement Requirements: Students who do not demonstrate readiness for the college level math will be required to select appropriate MDE coursework in consultation with an advisor.
