Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) Career Studies Certificate

Career Studies Certificate

Purpose: This Career Studies Certificate program consists of technical courses, which offer hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) software, and prepares students to apply engineering principles and technology to produce 2D detailed drawings and 3D models. The student will learn industry design standards and the application and usage of popular CAD software. The courses in the program are for students seeking to gain CAD software knowledge and qualifications relative to the industry, to become CAD Certified, to update their current technical CAD skills, or to complete the required courses in the Mechatronics Systems Engineering Technology Associate Degree options.

Program Objectives:  Entry-level or advanced opportunities in mechanical design, automated manufacturing, architecture, engineering and computer-aided industrial sites. Positions include drafter, CAD technician, detailer or designer. Other job titles may include CAD, engineering, or industrial technician. 

Admission Requirements:  Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to credit-level coursework established by the college.

Placement Requirements: Students who do not demonstrate readiness for college-level English will be required to select appropriate EDE 10  or ENG 111 /EDE 11*  coursework in consultation with an advisor.

Students who do not demonstrate readiness for the college-level math will be required to will select appropriate MDE coursework in consultation with an advisor.

Program Notes: Students will be prepared to sit for the following autocad certifications upon completion: Autodesk Certified User and Autodesk Certified Professional.
