Phlebotomy Career Studies Certificate

Purpose: This curriculum is designed to prepare students to perform the responsibilities of an entry-level phlebotomy technician.

Program Objectives: Graduates may apply for employment in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, laboratories, healthcare clinics, and blood donation banks.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to credit-level coursework established by the college. Applicants must submit a program and college application for admission into this program.

Students may be asked to interview for program admission if the number of applicants exceeds the number of spaces in the program. Students accepted into the Phlebotomy program will be required to have a criminal background check, drug screening and other clinical requirements, and are responsible for the cost.  Please be aware that any felony conviction or positive drug screen for illegal drug use will prevent the student from attending the hospital clinical sites and completing the program. Students in the Phlebotomy program must be at least 18 years of age prior to beginning MDL 190 .

This program is offered each semester, including the Summer Semester.

Total Minimum Credits for Degree: 16


1 HLT 105 or CPR certification can be used to satisfy this requirement; however, ther required CPR certification for Phlebotomy is American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider CPR which includes hands-on training with infant, child, adult, and AED​.
