Associate of Applied Science

Purpose: The AAS in Technical Studies provides flexible alternatives for meeting student and employer needs and features a flexible curriculum design to meet specific educational and employment goals.  The curriculum will be approved by the Chief Academic Officer or designee to ensure a coherent plan of study.

Program Objectives: Prepare the graduate to enter or advance in technical fields upon graduation.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to credit-level coursework established by the college.

Placement Requirements: Students who do not demonstrate readiness for college-level English will be required to select appropriate EDE 10  or ENG 111 /EDE 11*  coursework in consultation with an advisor.

Students who do not demonstrate readiness for the college-level math will be required to select appropriate MDE coursework in consultation with an advisor.

Program Notes: This curriculum allows the student to select (1) or (2) existing certificates, to include career studies certificates, with additional courses to create a coherent plan of study in a technical field of the student’s choice. The student should work with an advisor to develop their plan of study. The plan of study must be approved in advance by the Chief Academic Officer or designee.

I- GENERAL EDUCATION                             15 CR
(15 CR required; at least 3 CR from each discipline)

Communication - 3-6 credits

Humanities - 3-6 credits

Social/Behavioral Sciences - 3-6 credits

Mathematics/Natural Science - 3-6 credit

 

II- STUDENT DEVELOPMENT                         2 CR

 

III- CONTENT SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE     43 - 51 CR
(43 - 51 CR); at least one certificate or career studies certificate required)
