Information Systems Technology: Database and Program Developer Specialization, A.A.S.

Purpose: This curriculum is designed to provide students with a wide range of IT, project management, security and business knowledge as well as concentrated programming and database skills in multiple languages.  These skills are applicable for entry level employment in all sized IT companies. May sit for the Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) in Java, the Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA) in Database Fundamentals, the CompTIA Security+ Certification and the CompTIA Linux+.

Program Objectives: Employment opportunities include entry-level positions in fields including Application Developer, Java Developer, Database Developer, Database Administrator, Database Programmer, or Software Engineer.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to credit-level coursework established by the college.

Developmental Requirements: Students who do not place into college-level English will be required to take developmental courses.

Students who do not demonstrate proficiency in MTE 1* , MTE 2*  and MTE 3*  will be required to take developmental courses.

It is strongly recommended that developmental education requirements be completed as soon as possible.

Program Note: This program can be completed online.

AAS degrees prepare students for direct employment upon completion of the degree. However, many programs may also transfer to four-year institutions. Students interested in transferring should verify program requirements with specific four-year institutions and with the program head for Information Technology.

Total Minimum Credits for Degree: 66


SDV 108  will satisfy the SDV 101 requirement. SDV 108 is for developmental English students.

2 Students planning to transfer should consider taking a higher-level MTH course to satisfy this requirement.  Please see your faculty or program advisor for additional information.​

3 Students should consult faculty advisor prior to enrollment as ITP 246*  is critically important for certain career paths.  ITP 246*  is a 4-credit class.

4 This course should be completed in the final semester.
