The Career Studies Certificate program in Applied Interdisciplinary Science is only available to students taking Dual Enrollment classes through the Virginia Western Regional Academy for Advanced Technology.
Career Studies Certificate
Purpose: This curriculum will challenge the high achieving student with hands-on instruction in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Environmental Science. Students will gain research experience and benefit from the project based learning activities associated with this coursework.
Program Objectives: Graduates who successfully complete this program will receive a Career Studies Certificate in Applied Interdisciplinary Science and will be prepared to complete an Associate’s Degree, or transfer to a 4-year institution and pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biological or Environmental Sciences.
Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to credit-level coursework established by the college.
Developmental Requirements: Students who do not demonstrate proficiency on the placement test in the following mathematical units will be required to complete developmental courses: MTE 1 , MTE 2 , MTE 3 , MTE 4 , MTE 5 , MTE 6 , MTE 7 , MTE 8 and MTE 9 . Students must be eligible for ENG 111 - College Composition I .
Program Notes: Graduates may continue their studies in various programs at VWCC, most relevant being the AS in Science or the AS in Integrated Environmental Studies.
