Purpose: This career studies certificate is designed to prepare students to complete medical billing tasks related to claims reimbursement for medical facilities.
Program Objectives: Employers continue to need workers who are knowledgeable in the medical billing field in relation to submitting health claims, resolving claims denials, and posting of payments. Potential entry-level job positions include medical billers, patient access representatives, and professional services claims processors for physician offices, hospitals, and other medical-related businesses.
Graduates of the program may be eligible to take a national certifying examination for professional billers administered by the American Academy of Professional Coders.
Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to credit-level coursework established by the college.
Developmental Requirements: Students who do not place into college-level English will be required to take developmental courses.
It is strongly recommended that developmental education requirements be completed as soon as possible.
